Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Dzifa Abla Gomashie, is mourning the loss of her father, Mr. Gomashie, who passed away at the age of 106.
The veteran actress-turned-politician shared the news with a touching post on Facebook, where she uploaded a photo of her father along with the full verses of a well-known hymn that speaks of faith in difficult times. The verses express hope, strength, and divine guidance even through grief.
She wrote:
“Stanza 1
BEGONE, unbelief; my Saviour is near,
And for my relief will surely appear:
By prayer let me wrestle, and He will perform;
With Christ in the vessel,
I smile at the storm.”
The post continued through all five stanzas, each reflecting on God’s love, provision, and promise to carry His people through pain and trials.
Dzifa Gomashie also updated her Facebook profile photo to one she took with her father during his 106th birthday celebration in March. The update has since drawn heartfelt condolences from friends, colleagues in government and the creative arts industry, and many Ghanaians who have followed her career over the years.
Mr. Gomashie lived a long and impactful life, and his passing marks the end of a remarkable chapter for the Gomashie family.
