A new firm, Tiskies Global, has opened its fashion showroom for business in Lagos.

The business outfit which deals with the production of garment of African prints is set to redefine the fashion industry as it is determined to serve as boost to Nigeria’s economic development.

Speaking at the launch held in Lagos where the logo was also unveiled, Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mrs. Abiola Aluko described the birth of the firm as a dream come true having gone through several months of incubation before its realization. She therefore urged Nigerians to play their role by ensuring that they wear and patronize locally made materials.

While attesting to the creative ingenuity scattered around the country among the youths especially in the fashion industry, Aluko said she was ready and committed to the cause of encouraging a naijacentric economy where locally made prints would be showcased. She said “We want to be part of a new birth of Nigeria. We are determined to show that something good can come out of this country. That is why Tiskies came to life. As we set up for business, we will be having fabrics in different sizes which ranges from extra small to extra-large. We want to make the country again. We are going to be naijacentric. We are going to dress Nigeria and we believe Nigeria will be great again.”

While expressing absolute faith in the country’s ability to succeed as it goes through the journey, Aluko said the firm remains committed to upholding the best standard and quality in its production. She however promised that the garment would soon become an important item for exportation as there are plans to kick start it come 2017.

Commending the firm for a job well done, The President of Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria, FADAN, Mrs. Funmi Ajila-Ladipo said it is a remarkable feat that a garment factory was birthing in Nigeria despite the challenges confronting the industry noting that this would help grow the industry the more. While seeking the support of the organization as it continually engages the government for relevance, Ladipo urges government to assist it by ensuring that it builds production hubs across the country.

She said ”It is a good thing to be in the clothing industry. But unfortunately, we live in a country where clothing is not given relevance. You can imagine the passion expressed by different people in this industry. Nigerians are indeed very creative. So, I think government need to help entrepreneurs by creating production hubs across the country. If there are production hubs, the situation where different styles and pattern are being replicated in different places would not occur because it would have curbed copies. So, I ask you to join FADAN .We need your support to be able to persuade government so that they don’t see the industry as entertainment but as a business.”

However, dignitaries at the event were treated to a night of fun and beautiful music rendition as the duo of popular comedian, Ajele and sensational artiste, DJ Sose, Dance reHub and Aramide wow the audience with their talents.
