The art of dance and its performers’ contribution to Ghana’s arts and entertainment industry over the years cannot be underestimated; the dancers’ creativity, gaiety, energy, among other qualities bring forth life to events they perform at.

Despite their vital role, they are relatively the least celebrated and/or recognised professionals in the country’s performance art industry.

It is in this regard that the first-ever national dance award scheme, Rush Energy Ghana Dance Awards (REGDA) has been created to primarily honour distinguished individuals and groups, who have, and are keenly projecting dance in the country. Among other dance genres, traditional dance, African contemporary dance and street dance will also be celebrated.

To take the plunge, a breathtaking launch and nominees unveiling ceremony for REGDA 2017 under the theme “Dance In Ghana: Let’s Promote It” has been scheduled to take place later this month.

During the glittering night, guests will also be treated to exciting and some of the rich dance forms Ghana can boast of, as well as some nonnative dances that have been part of us since history.

One of the highlight moments during the night will be, who gets nominated to the various categories and most especially to the ultimate dance award category.

This launch will be graced by some of the eminent personalities who have over the years contributed immensely to dance in Ghana.

This event will take place at the Silver Star Tower in Airport City, Accra on Saturday, April 29, 2017 and starts at 6.00pm prompt.

The Rush Energy Ghana Dance Awards 2017 is powered by Flash Mob Ghana. Twellium Industrial Company’s Rush Energy Drink is the title sponsor and it is supported by Ceejay Multimedia. It has also been endorsed by the Ghana Dancers Association.
