A young woman has braved the odds to stand alone, determined, even without initial support to start an NGO.

In a place where teenage pregnancy is rife and considered a stock – in – trade, Didi should be celebrated for her foresight. Having lived and breathed life in the nautical area of Labadi, to be specific ‘wireless’, her life is a projection of what the future should be for any girl.

Didi knows and understands the situation better – most of her friends and family lost their youth to teenage pregnancy. She saw what started those painful journeys – she beheld the laborious months of carrying babies; how they struggled alone to fend for their babies who will not be claimed by their fathers.

In worse circumstances, young women have died through abortions, unsuccessful attempts to hide the shame and continue on with life. These and many more reasons are why Didi refuses to sit and fold her hands.

Augustine Didi Adjoka, the visionary behind this idea came up with a non-governmental organization (Partnering Youth Development Outreach). The purpose of this organization is to educate the teens of our generation certain things that will lead to the destruction of their future at a tender age.

These days, you don’t have to walk far to meet a pregnant teenager. It’s almost a common phenomenon. Young girls of school-going age are trading their future at an expensive cost. Whether they lack the foresight to properly measure the risks, or perhaps do not possess the wits to dream loftily enough, the rate of teenage pregnancy in Ghana is very alarming. Dawning upon the youth spoilage caused by teenage pregnancy is frightening, and even hurting.

Unfortunately, pregnant teenagers are categorized and labelled, limiting their drive to attain their potential, hence the need to address these concerns to prevent others straying into the same cycle.

Young boys likewise are faced with parallel challenges that if embraced side by side with that of the girls will go a long way in providing desired results. The potential of becoming culprits who later become threats to these young girls is not only rife, but the social vices that young boys are exposed to if not embraced can hamper the goals of PYDO

Observing the exuberance of some of these youth could make anybody wonder if they understand current state of affairs –how these children would group up, and whether they would have the kind of future to be proud of.

Abortion is no longer a shameful deed; the practice is now being upheld, and confabs are underway to make ‘safe’ abortion legal in Africa!

Creating strong commitments towards the stoppage of teenage pregnancy is almost an elusive objective. But taking a unique stance against teenage pregnancy, considering the associated evils, is helpful, through addressing those concerns to those yet to stray into it.

An intriguing part of PYDO is to address the threats posed by the adult culprits, who these girls normally fall victims to.

PYDO in june is coming up with a program to educate and entertain the youth of Ghana on teenage pregnancy. This is the dream of the team to help kick away teenagae pregnancy in our communities.
