US Rapper, Kanye West has been hospitalised and is reportedly under psychiatric evaluation at UCLA Medical Center after a string of odd behavior, mid-concert rants and an abrupt cancellation of his “Saint Pablo Tour.”

BBC quoted a police spokesperson as saying they had received a “disturbance call” on Monday afternoon – but did not name the singer.

While the disturbance call was later deemed a medical incident, the spokesman for the LA Fire Department, who responded, said an unnamed man had been taken to hospital for “further assessment”.

While details of the incident from multiple sources continue to conflict, NBC News reports that West is currently under observation at a Los Angeles hospital after police responded to a medical welfare call yesterday.

“Multiple authorities familiar with the case” say this was “for his own health and safety”.

TMZ claimed that one of Kanye’s personal doctors believed him to be suffering from ‘severe sleep deprivation’.

“West initially opposed going to the hospital before being convinced, and was handcuffed to the gurney while being transported,” TMZ reported.

Neither West nor his representatives have made an official statement about the incident.

The “Famous” artist canceled the remainder of his “Saint Pablo Tour” following recent bizarre rants and antics at recent shows. He had 21 concerts remaining on the North American leg of his sprawling tour, which he extended a few weeks ago beyond its original Nov. 2 end date.

“Tickets will be fully refunded at point of purchase,” the rep told Pitchfork.

Following the incident, some celebrities, friends and fans have taken to social media to voice their concern and offer well wishes to West with the hashtag #PrayForKanye.
