Renowned Kumawood actor Michael Afrane has made no secret of his dedication to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and after investing his time and energy in the party’s 2024 election campaign, he now stands ready for what the future holds—possibly a call from President John Dramani Mahama.

Afrane, a passionate advocate for the NDC, crisscrossed the country ahead of the elections, rallying support and urging voters to back Mahama’s return to power. But he wasn’t alone in this mission. He was joined by fellow Kumawood stars Big Akwes, Christian Awuni, Nana Yeboah, and others, all lending their voices and influence to the cause.

In an exclusive interview with SeanCitygh.com, Afrane expressed confidence that his unwavering commitment would not go unnoticed. However, he clarified that he is not actively lobbying for a political appointment. “I am not pressuring President Mahama for a position,” he stated, “but if an appointment comes my way, I certainly won’t decline.”

His stance is intriguing, especially given his history of blunt political commentary. Afrane has never shied away from criticizing the opposing New Patriotic Party (NPP). In fact, he has gone as far as declaring that young people who follow the NPP risk financial ruin—a sentiment that has made him both a hero among NDC supporters and a controversial figure in political circles.

As Ghana moves forward under Mahama’s leadership, the question remains: Will Afrane’s dedication earn him a role in government, or will he continue his activism from the sidelines? Either way, his voice in the political space is unlikely to fade anytime soon.
