“I Am Not Mrs. Acquah” – MzGee Confirms Divorce from Raymond Acquah, Clarifies Son’s Surname

Popular Ghanaian media personality Gloria Akpene Nyarku, professionally known as MzGee has officially confirmed that she is no longer married to her husband, Raymond Acquah.

She made the revelation in a video posted on her social media platforms while announcing her new vlog, Gee O’clock.

In the video, MzGee, known for hosting United Showbiz on UTV, shared that Gee O’clock will focus on various aspects of her life. She noted that she had previously done similar content in the past but is now making a comeback.

The new mother took the opportunity to express her gratitude to her fans, friends, and family who supported her throughout her pregnancy and after she gave birth in the United States. She also extended her appreciation to her employers, Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong, Fadda Dickson, and the entire management and staff of Despite Media. According to her, the company went above and beyond by granting her a six-month maternity leave instead of the usual three months while continuing to pay her and keeping her as part of the team.

Addressing her marriage, MzGee clarified that she has been separated from Raymond Acquah for three years and officially divorced for the past two years. She stated that she was making this public due to the way some blogs had attached her former husband’s surname to hers when announcing the birth of her baby boy.

Emphasizing her identity, she stated, “I am Gloria Apkene Nyarku with no Acquah. I have no doumentation that bears the name Acquah. It use to  be but it no longer is.” The show host further made it clear that her child is not an Acquah and does not belong to her former husband.

Despite the separation, MzGee assured that she and Raymond Acquah remain on good terms, which is why neither of them had publicly addressed the situation earlier. However, she urged the public to respect her ex-husband’s privacy and dignity, adding, “Please refrain from referring to my son as an Acquah and to me as Mrs. Acquah.”

The two media personalities Gloria Akpene Nyarku, popularly known as MzGee, and Raymond Acquah were married in October 2017. Their union began with a traditional ceremony on October 6, 2017, followed by a white wedding at the Accra Luxury Lodge on October 7, 2017.
