Los Angeles based French actress and IMG model Roxane Mesquida will join the epic Nigerian Civil War film ‘A Forgotten Place’ written and directed by the award-winning African filmmaker Odera Ozoka. Roxane will take on a new challenge with a key role in ‘A Forgotten Place’.

The film, which is scheduled to begin shooting in 2017, is a historical fiction odyssey story about the struggles to survive and find family amidst a war torn country. ‘A Forgotten Place’ will shoot on location in Nigeria and across Africa, showcasing the continent’s most exceptional landscapes. The film has the support of several governmental and cultural institutions throughout Africa and is working in collaboration with companies across the continent, in Europe, and in the United States. The production aims to take Nollywood films to new heights and Roxane’s attachment is the first to be announced as some of the best talent of international independent cinema are being approached to join an ensemble cast with gravitas.

For more information about the film, contact Ashley Ellis, Producer at Black Tower Productions, (phone and email listed above).

Roxane’s interest in ‘A Forgotten Place’ came after reading the script and immediately recognizing its quality and the importance of the story, which deals with themes that apply to contemporary global conflicts. She was also intrigued by the role, one of the lead female parts, and the opportunity to play a strong and daring female character. After several conversations with Odera Ozoka and Ashley Ellis, she agreed to to project.

Roxane Mesquida is known for risqué roles in auteur films by celebrated European directors and a successful run on the TV show ‘Gossip Girl’. She worked on three films with auteur director Catherine Breillat: Fat Girl (2001), winner of the Gold Hugo for Best Film at the Chicago International Film Festival; Sex Is Comedy (2002) and the Cannes Palme d’Or nominated drama, The Last Mistress (2007). Since relocating to Hollywood, she has taken roles in the United States and continues to work in France.
