The original songwriter of the controversial song ‘I’m a fan’, DeCarlo, has revealed that Pia Mia has the only authorized version of the song, accusing Nigerian rapper Phyno of stealing the controversial song.

In case you missed it, Nigerians took to social media to vent shortly after they learned of singer Pai Mia’s song ‘I’m a Fan‘, accusing the American singer of stealing Phyno’s idea.

The Nigerian rapper had dropped his version in 2016, featuring Mr Eazi and American producer DeCarlo, while Pia featured Jeremih in a version in May 2017.

Shortly after the drama surfaced on social media, a report alleged that Phyno was not the true owner of the song in contention, that the rapper ‘reconstructed’ the song which they said originally belonged to a producer called Remo.

Now, the songwriter DeCarlo has opened up on the situation.

He took to his twitter account to state that Pia Mia’s version of the song is the only ‘authorized version’ and that Phyno allegedly stole the song for use in his Playmaker album which was released in November, 2016.

See his tweets below;

Pulse had earlier reported about how the demo was sent to Phyno, who with the help of a Nigerian producer named Benjamz, reconstructed it before its release, apparently, without reaching an agreement with DeCarlo.
